My Favorite Summer Protein Shakes
Have you noticed I love switchin’ up recipes by season?
So far this I’ve shared my favorite iced coffee drinks and low-cal cocktails, beers, and seltzers especially for spring.
We’ve got our morning pick-me-up and evening wind-down drinks covered. How about something summery for post-workout?
This week I’ve rounded up my favorite summer protein drinks!
Obviously you can enjoy these year-round, but some things just taste best fresh and in season. Can you believe it’s already strawberry season? That means raspberries, blackberries, and peaches are just around the corner!
On second thought, skip these recipes and just eat entire bowls full of fruit. We’re done here! That’s the blog!
Ok, KIDDING! We have to have some protein to balance these seasonal simple carbs!
You’ll notice my recipes call for fresh OR frozen fruits, so hit that farmer’s market and stock up the freezer!
I have SIX delicious recipes in this week’s printable, and they use all my favorite June fruits (and peanut butter, and bananas, because, duh!)
This one is just too weird to not share right here. Weird by ingredients list, I mean, not weird tasting. It’s my hide-the-veggies protein shake. It’s different to have carrots and celery in a protein shake, yes, but it’s even more that you can’t even taste them!
You’ll just have to try.
Hide-The-Veggies Protein Shake
Ingredients
½ C each frozen strawberries and raspberries
¼ C each chopped celery and chopped carrots (seriously!)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
½ C plain Greek yogurt
½ C almond milk (or whatever you have!)
½ C orange juice
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.
You’ll probably want to blend this one a little longer, just to REALLY hide those hidden vegetables.
