5 Healthy Recipes Under $20

If you’re like me, when January rolls around you’re looking for ways to eat healthier after the holidays while also getting your spending back in check after all the Christmas shopping. I GET IT. So this week on the Sis blog, I’m sharing 5 of my favorite recipes to keep you in line with your goals while staying delicious AND budget-friendly.

So how can you save money AND stay on track with your fitness goals this year? It starts at the GROCERY store!

First:

Shop the perimeter of the store. This is where you find the fresh/frozen produce, deli, meat counter, and bakery items that have less additives, sugars and preservatives that the items in the interior aisles. To save money on these items, my Sisterhood members recommend shopping at stores like Aldi where prices are low but the product quality stays high.

Second:

Watch out for -ose items in the nutrition ingredients. This indicates added sugars to the product which we want to avoid. Sugar is ok in moderation, but added sugars are not your friend!

Third:

Meal plan and make a list before you head out so you know exactly what you have on-hand and what you need. This will keep you from overspending your budget. I make a grocery list each week for my SIS members that goes along with our weekly meal planner so that grocery shopping is easy and you can stick to your plans!

Four:

Temptation a problem as you browse the aisles? Order online and opt for pick-up or delivery so you don't add any unnecessary items to your cart. Plus, you don’t have to drag the kiddos out of the car into the cold and it saves you time!

Last:

Check coupons and weekly ads to buy the brands that are on sale! Our Sisters also recommended shopping at stores like Aldi and Cosco to help keep your spending down while getting great quality groceries for you and your family.
